Since 2009, we have advocated sustainable practices by businesses and households. We have encouraged fast food restaurants to move beyond plastic bags and councils to offer recycling to business.

Our Mission

To promote an environmental and social conscience within business through recycling, decreased power usage and waste reduction. The Clean Age aims to awaken a sense of community spirit and ensure businesses acknowledge their environmental role in our society.

Fax machines are often left on continuously but their actual time used amounts to only about an hour a day.

What We've Achieved

  • Encouraged Council to offer business recycling pickups to Camden local government area, which is now available.
  • Lobbied Red Rooster and KFC to discontinue their use of plastic bags. There has been an increase in paper bag usage, but there is still room for these businesses to improve.
  • Promoted the waste-free lunchbox options for school kids.
  • Partnered with other environmentally conscious organisations to further promote community concerns and engage with businesses.
  • Promotion of e-waste disposal facilities.
  • Assisted offices incorporating composting disposal units.

Drying clothes in a clothes dryer releases at least 3 kg of carbon dioxide.

There are many ways for households and businesses to become more environmentally friendly on a day-to-day basis:

  • Recycling all rubbish;
  • Recyclable packaging of goods;
  • Choosing products without chemicals;
  • Reduction in lighting use;
  • Avoid standby power and shut down electronics;
  • Increase indoor plants to absorb emissions and lower temperatures;
  • Reduce air conditioning use;
  • Walk to work, school, banks and post offices
